A gorgeous alternative to the more pricey wines of the Loire Valley! This is a quintessential Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc that is punching far above it's price tag.
Expect a bold flinty nose and bright gooseberry, blackberry leaf, and citrus fruits... on the palate it is zesty, refreshing, mineral and persistent!
The Producer
The Domaine des Echardières, spanning 16 hectares, is located on the left bank of the river Cher in close proximity to the famous Chenonceaux renaissance château. The property was acquired as a going concern by owner Luc Poullain in 2000, at the age of 30, shortly after returning from studying agricultural engineering in England and selling chemicals to wine growers. Poullain now serves as president of the recently established Touraine Chenonceaux appellation for red and white wines.

The Producer
Luc Poullain bought his domaine in 2000 at 30 years old. A little of a career change as he'd previously studied as an agricultural engineer in Bedfordshire in the early 1990s, before returning to France to sell, ironically, chemicals to the wine industry. In Touraine, Luc is known as 'Mr President", not just because of his strong grasp of the English language due to his time studying abroad but because he was the force behind the campaign for creating the new Touraine-Chenonceaux appellation. Luc’s Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from vineyards on the slopes and plateaux on the south bank of the river Cher, where soil types match those of his more illustrious Sauvignon Blanc neighbours further to the east, with his wine is as good a match as any of those and at significantly more attractive pricing.
