If you are a lover of Chardonnay (even if you are not!) then this bottle will delight your palate! It can be hard to find a Chardonnay that offers layers and complexity at an affordable price, this gem from the sunny south of France brings personality in spades, offering layers of flavours from rich ripe fruit to vanilla and spice from oak barrels.
The vines for this wine are grown in the foothills of the Pyrenees in an area known as Haut Vallée de Limoux thanks to its long association with sparkling Limoux wines. However, this vastly underrated corner of the South of France is way more than just a one trick pony and Chardonnay loves the high altitude of the vineyards which preserves the bright acidity.
Expect a bright yellow gold hue and seductive scents of blossom and cinnamon spice. A remarkable melange of pears, peach, honey toffee, cream and vanilla (from a short spell of oak ageing) on the palate. Beautifully balanced with ripeness, acidity, length and real structure. A very classy Chardonnay.
